Avant Architect’s was commissioned to design a four floor vertical expansion to the existing 2- story Doctor’s Plaza medical office building. The design added approximately 60,000 SF to the facility including a skywalk link to the third floor of the Hospital. The new building is home to the Ambulatory Surgery Center for Endoscopy, Women’s Health, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Obstetric Clinics, Psychology and Psychiatric clinics, Imaging Suites, and a Testing Lab.
- Project Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
- Project Size: 60,000 SF Addition (vertical over 4 new stories)
- Project Cost: $12 million
- Project Completed: 2003
The interior concept evolves around a new lobby configuration that improved tenant efficiency and serves as an interior way-finding element.
To the existing 11,000 SF footprint, the design adds four floors of 14,500 SF to provide a total medical office environment of 80,000 SF. All mechanical, electrical and life safety systems were expanded and upgraded. The exterior envelope contrasts an insulated metal panel system with the existing brick and precast façade of the existing building and campus fabric creating a bold icon for visual exposure from Cliff Avenue, the main access to campus.
